In Honor of International Women's Day: Six Women Founder's We Admire

W We’re constantly blown away by the tenacity, resilience, strength, and ingenuity of women. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come and continue to go in the face of seemingly constant adversity. That glass ceiling is shattering all around us, and as it does, the myths about what we are capable of or made for have become laughable in their baselessness. Part of what makes celebrating the successes of women so important is recognizing that for most, just being a woman sets you up with a road paved with obstacles and a constant demand for you to prove you have what it takes. We often have to work twice as hard in order to receive equal compensations, recognition, and elevation. For thousands of years, we’ve been taught that women in leadership or intellectual and/or non-feminine roles are the exception and not the rule. And yet, here we are--leading, building, engineering, advancing, and stimulating change. So, in celebration of women on International Women’s Day, we wanted to highlight some of the amazing women founders we admire and whose stories and missions continue to inspire us.

Molly Hayward | CORA

Hayward created CORA to help ALL women have access to quality period products that are effective and safe. CORA’s pads and tampons are made from organic cotton, and they use proceeds from their subscription sales to provide women and girls in developing communities with access period products so they can complete their education and move towards a brighter future.

One of the things that stood out to us about Hayward’s story is how she chose local partners in the communities she wants to help. In this way, CORA not only helps the women and girls in those communities have access to period products and important information, but it also benefits the economies of those communities as well.

This really resonated with us and our desire to constantly improve our processes to ensure they are truly ethical. We love that Hayward took the time to consider the social impact of how she sourced products and made the choice to elevate the communities she’s helping.

Autumn Adeigbo | Autumn Adeigbo

There’s a lot to love about Autumn Adeigbo! Not only are her clothes breathtaking, her commitment to ethical sustainability along with her passion for uplifting women is equally as beautiful.

Adeigbo’s approach is a beautiful reminder of how every aspect of our processes can be done in such a way that benefits our communities and our globe. We love that she is using her brand as an opportunity to empower others while simultaneously being thoughtful about environmental impact.

Eileen Fisher | EILEEN FISHER

Eileen Fisher's fashion brand iscommitted to ethical and sustainable practices and production. Fisher stood out as a pioneer of ethical and sustainable practices WAY before sustainability was cool. We love how transparent she is about their goals, timeline, and plan of action to achieve them. It’s refreshing to see such an embrace of accountability and drive to continually improve. This is something we take very seriously, and we strive to be completely transparent about our processes, goals, mistakes, etc. We know there’s always room to improve and that opening ourselves up to accountability enables us to further improve and develop inline with our values.

Shobha Philips | PROCLAIM

Proclaim is an ethical , eco-friendly, and inclusive lingerie brand based in LA that is redefining Nude lingerie. We were blown away by Philips’ drive to create an inclusive lingerie line (made from plastic water bottles!) for ALL women as well as her commitment to ethical and eco-friendly practices and production. ALSO, she utilizes our favorite material, TENCEL™! We love how transparent Philips’  is about Proclaim’s process and commitments to ethics, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Katherine Homuth | Sheertex

Homuth created Sheertex to tackle the seemingly impossible challenge of creating unbreakable tights. We’ve experienced our own frustrations with disposable and all too delicate hosiery. Between the cosmetic irritation of getting a run in our tights during an event and the sinking feeling of adding to the mounting global waste crisis every time we have to discard a pair, we love that Humoth offers a more sustainable option that, according to our founder, Janelle, really is indestructible.

One of the things we take into consideration when developing products is longevity. We believe that sustainability and long lifespan often go hand-in-hand. We appreciate that Sheeretex offers consumers hosiery options they can wear over and over and over…

Sarah Kaeck | Bee’s Wrap

Kaeck’s Bee’s Wrap provides consumers with a sustainable option to replace plastic wrap. We love how Kaeck is tackling something that contributes in huge ways to the global waste crisis. Many don’t think about the downside of using non-eco-friendly plastic wrap because it seems like such a small thing--a thing we’ve been using (for what feels like) forever. But, it really does make a huge difference.

Part of our commitment to sustainability is considering the small things as much as the BIG ones. We love that this is something Bee’s Wrap draws attention to by finding eco-friendly solutions to replace the environmentally harmful ones that for so long seemed like the only options.

❖ ❖ ❖

It’s a privilege to highlight and celebrate these incredible women. Their stories and passions inspire us and serve as reminders of how we can better uphold, grow, and exemplify our values of ethical sustainability, being globally conscious, and focusing on progress over perfection. We know we won’t get it 100% right all of the time, but instead of seeing room for improvement as failures or shortcomings, we view them as opportunities to learn and grow.

A great big thank you to all of you incredible women out there! We see you and appreciate you!
